On Jan. 23, three members of the Mohawk FFA, a satellite of Vanguard-Sentinel Career Center, traveled to Columbus, to attend the Made for Excellence leadership conference.
These students learned to be better leaders in their schools and communities through activities, speakers, and workshops. They meet with the State FFA officer team, participate in various sessions, communicate with other members and gather ideas for future chapter projects.
Members of the Mohawk FFA Chapter who attended MFE were Darby Walton, Jarred Shellhouse and Donny Smith.
In the evening they enjoyed 18 holes of Putt-Putt with fellow FFA member Robert Gilliland, who went along to work on record books for his State FFA degree.
A great time was had by all and a lot of great ideas were brought back to the chapter.
On Feb. 18, two members of the Mohawk FFA, a satellite of Vanguard-Sentinel Career Center, participated in the Sub-District and District Job Interview contest, which was hosted by the Arlington.
At this contest the participants had to prepare a resume, a cover letter, complete an application, participate in an interview, and complete a follow-up letter.
Lindsay Daniel participated in the freshman category and placed fifth at districts and third at sub-districts overall.
In the sophomore division, Heather Daniel competed, and placed fourth at the district level and fifth at sub-districts overall. Congratulations and good work girls.
