FFA Sub-district
Speaking Contest
On Wednesday Feb. 10, three members of the Colonel Crawford/Pioneer FFA chapter competed at Shelby High School in the public speaking contest. Katelyn Lutz participated in the Advanced Prepared contest and she placed fifth.
Kendra Hudson recited the FFA creed placing fifth and Dwight Shawk participated in beginning prepared and received third place and will be moving onto the district competition. The district competition will be held on March 3, at Firelands. Good luck to Dwight at Districts.

Pioneer FFA goes to
District Evaluations
On Friday Feb. 5, the Colonel Crawford/ Pioneer FFA Chapter traveled to Lorain, for district evaluations.
District evaluations is an all day event that Mrs. Betti travels to, to have all of the officer's books, and State and American FFA Degree's checked for errors and then sent to the state department to be judged.
The treasurer's book was completed by Brent Rossman and received a bronze rating, the Secretary's book completed by Katelyn Lutz received honorable mention, and the reporter's book which is a scrap book with all of our FFA activities and pictures was completed by Andrea Cole and she received a gold rating and fourth place in the district.
Andrea will walk across the stage and be awarded for her book at the State Convention in May.
The State FFA Degree is the highest degree that the state can confer upon a member. The State FFA Degrees that were taken were David Wagner, Jacob Yaussy, Josh Rowlinson, Katelyn Lutz, Ryan Eblin, and Austin Hoover. They will be receiving their degrees in May at the State FFA Convention also.
The American Degree applicants included Matt Lutz, Ben Rossman, Ned Lucius, Doug Cramer, Nick Kocher, and Jessica Bogard. The American Degree is the highest FFA degree awarded and is given by the national organization in October at the Convention in Indianapolis, IN.
We would like to congratulate all the FFA members who took their time to fill out the applications and doing a great job.
Colonel Crawford FFA Juniors and Seniors Help out at Burkhart's Appreciation Day
On Feb. 4, Burkhart's hosted their annual Customer Appreciation Day. The juniors and seniors from the Colonel Crawford FFA chapter were invited to aid the employees with the day's events.
Members participating were, Duane Shawk, David Wagner, Andrea Cole, Jacob Yaussy, Josh Rowlinson, Ryan Eblin, Katelyn Lutz, Roy Lucius, Josh Crock, Carl Hardymon, Codi Eblin, Austin Hoover and Brent Rossman.
Students helped direct parking and register guests for the prize drawings. The members were treated to a pork chop dinner which included: coleslaw, mash potatoes and gravy, corn muffin, green beans, dessert, and a beverage.
We would like to thanks Burkhart's for allowing us help out, providing lunch, and the free hats and T shirts.
Tractor Trouble
Shooting Contest
On Tuesday Feb. 2, four members of the Colonel Crawford/Pioneer FFA chapter competed at Wynford High School in the Tractor Trouble Shooting contest.
Competing at county was a team of Nick Roe and Ian Kochheiser, the next team consists of Dwight Shawk and Jessie Sellman. Dwight and Jessie placed second; Nick and Ian placed third.
The contestants would like to give a big thank you to our dealerships that sent judges and equipment, and for the wonderful job our judges did in preparing the tractors for the contest.
