Jason Hartschuh, a post grad member of the Wynford FFA chapter, was recently awarded the national winner of the Dairy Production-Entrepreneurship proficiency award.
Hartschuh was named one of four finalists in July 2009. The national winner was named at the National FFA Convention on Oct. 23. To receive this honor he had to attend multiple interviews and put long hours and accuracy into record books. This proficiency award is given to a growing entrepreneur in the dairy production career.
Hartschuh works on the Hartschuh Dairy Farms where he is learning how to be a profitable dairy farmer. His parents own and operate the 160 cow dairy farm. Hartschuh began his own dairy herd in 1999 and now owns and operates 14 cows and nine heifers. Through artificial insemination, he continues to improve the herds' type and production.
Hartschuh also received his American FFA Degree at the 82nd National FFA Convention. The American Degree is the highest FFA degree a member can receive.
