The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced a request for project proposals to protect, restore and enhance Great Lakes fish habitat under the Great Lakes Basin Fish Habitat Partnership. Projects will receive up to $1 million in total funding, made available through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, to support on the ground fish habitat work. Local watershed associations, municipalities, tribes, states and non-governmental organizations are encouraged to apply. Deadline for proposal submission is Feb. 12.
Project proposals will be compiled, ranked and reviewed by the Partnership, and final funding decisions will be made by the Service in late spring or early summer 2010.
